Artist Statement

I am a storyteller—a weaver of perspectives and identity—creating intricate, tapestry-like-quilts that honor quilt-makers who came before me. My work pays homage to their rich history, while pushing the boundaries of what a painting and quilt are. 

As a weaver of narratives, I delve into the depths of human pain, while simultaneously highlighting the healing journey that follows. My work embodies the power of self-love and the resilience required to rebuild one’s life after hardships. 

Themes of pain and triumph, exclusion and acceptance are woven into the fabric of my work, stitched together in layers of meaning, much like the patchwork of life itself. Through the act of sewing, my canvas morphs into paper and my needle to a pen, and the stories—my own and those shared with me—are brought to life. 

The textures, the layers, and my process invites a deeper understanding of the human condition, and the chaotic, messy, and yet beautifully unique life we each have. 

As a storyteller, my foundation is this:
